June is a big time for weddings...

I'm continually getting calls, Emails, and direct questions from Brides to be or their Mothers asking, "I'm getting married in a few months and was thinking about Botox before the wedding...how long before should I do it?"

Summer wedding season is upon us and there is no better time to look your best then on your wedding day...Remember ladies those photos last a lifetime! And since you are going to be the center of attention and doing a lot of smiling, you'll want to make sure you face looks radiant and relaxed.

All brides should know you need to do your Botox at least 1 month before your wedding, in case any tweaking needs to be done. I often suggest to brides a light sprinkling of Botox to calm down any crow's feet or forehead lines. I also love having my brides prepare their skin with a light laser peel or light chemical peel to ensure that your skin will glow and your make up will go on smoothly and evenly. And if you are hitting the beach on your honey moon I always recommend coming in for a few cellulite treatments such as accent, viora, or cellupulse to tighten and firm those areas of the body to leave you feeling incredible and confident in that bikini. Your wedding day will be here before you know it, so there's no time like today to prepare you, Mom, Grandma or the whole wedding party for your big day!

Q&A with Leslie

Q:
Hello, I was curious if there are any products on the market that actually absorb into the skin to prevent wrinkles that work? Also curious if there are non-invasive anti-aging treatments that a woman can do on her lunch break or not be super noticable?
Is there a particular supplement one can take to help elasticity, collagen or anti-aging of the skin?

Stephanie

A:
Hi Stephanie,

Great question...and the answer is yes! I would recommend a product called Radiant Lift. It is a product that will not only prevent wrinkles but also treat existing ones. It is a product that combines Vitamin A, Hyaluronic Acid, Green Tea and Polyphenols to keep your skin exfoliated from the inside out while providing moisture to your skin. Additionally, I will recommend a Product called Solaris Day, Which is a sunscreen. It is $45 and the tube will last you a year. Sunscreen is 1 in prevention of wrinkles. It is a MUST every day rain, snow or shine.
My favorite supplement for skin is a product called Hair, Skin and Nails by Forrester Labs, it is amazing to provide support to the skin.
As far as lunch time skin rejuvenation I would suggest Viora or accent for skin tightening a medical grade microlaser peel, or a lunchtime chemical peel. We have so many things for skin and wrinkle rejuvenation. The products can be found at www.forresterbeauty.com or at any of our 4 offices.
Have a great wrinkle free day.

Q:
I have a lot of cellulite in my stomach what's the best procedure to get rid of it? And how many treatments would be needed?

Cass

A:
Hi Cass,
Cellulite on the stomach is a common problem and is usually accompanied by loose skin. But not to fear! We have 2 amazing treatments for you to improve the appearance and tightness of your tummy skin. My 2 suggestions would be Viora and Accent. They are both painless, no downtime, easy treatments that utilize radio frequency technology to tighten, firm and smooth the skin anywhere on the body. In my personal opinion I like a combination of the 2 treatments using viora and accent together. I usually suggest alternating the treatment technologies for the best results. You will need a few sessions and the number will depend on how much improvement you want to see and the condition of your skin. So as always, I invite you to come in and see us, its absolutely FREE to come in and we can tell you what would be best and what to expect as far as a personalized result. I hope that helps, Call me anytime or come on in. Have a great day!

Q:
I know a girl who's my age (28) who has been getting botox on a regular basis since 25...she says it's "preventative". Crazy talk if you ask me. Thoughts?

Kristina

A:
Kristina,
Actually your friend is completely right. Botox is a preventive to the onset of wrinkles. Here's why...Botox is used to temporarily block the communication of the nerve to the muscle, and so when we move our faces with Botox we do not crinkle and fold the skin as hard as you would with out Botox. So when the muscle is relaxed and not moving as much the wrinkles do not have a chance to form in the first place. I have been botoxing since 29, I am turning 38 next month and I do not have a wrinkle to be found. I completely 100% have Botox to thank for that. Botox is a great solution to treating wrinkles but a truly amazing discovery when it comes to prevention of aging and facial wrinkles. That being said...my rule is its never to late to start botox, and sometimes earlier is better! Thanks for the question!

Q:
With so many brands out there for skin care and hating endless trial and error what can I do to simplify my options without always feeling like I could be using something better?

Kate

A:
Kate,
I know skin care is overwhelming , there are so many product lines and so many promises made by all of them. But I follow a few rules. First, do not be fooled by glossy ads or 25 year olds promoting an anti wrinkle cream...buy your products from only one place : a doctors office. Medical grade skin care is the only way to go, in my opinion. If you are buying from a department store you might as well go to target, it's all the same level of ingredients.

Medical grade does not mean more expensive, it just means you're getting a more effective level of active ingredients. For example, Dr T and I designed our own line of 30 medical skin cares and it is much less expensive than department store prices, but the concentration of active ingredients is what you really need to truly be effective.
Second, you need 3 products in your arsenal to combat aging: a sunscreen, a retinol and a vitamin c cream (anti-oxidant) to be used daily. And most importantly you need to love the products you are using. If they are working for you then enjoy them. There is always something that will be new tomorrow, but the tried and true 3 products that I mentioned will stand the test of time. Hope that helps! And again, you're always welcome to come and see me for skin care suggestions and a free evaluation.
